Southern Maine Hot Spots

It’s been awhile since I made a post! It’s been a hectic summer and I’m actually very happy it’s about to end. I’ve been focusing a lot of my free time catching up on errands and spending as much time with my brother before he leaves for Nevada. I didn’t want to put blogging on the back burner but honestly, I was having such a hard time trying to come up with content since we’ve been away so much. But my break actually helped me come up more ideas on what to write about next!

Despite our busy summer, I’ve actually been a little adventurous with trying some new and some not-so-new restaurants/bars in our area. Here’s some of my current favorite places to go for a drink/bite to eat in the Southern Maine region!

Petite Jacqueline, Portland, ME – So I know I’ve already made a post in the past about brunch at PJ’s bistro, however the hubby and I came here for dinner for a change! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to treat ourselves for the night. Before our food came out, we had a freshly baked baguette with a side of parsley butter. The parsley butter was absolutely delish! My husband ordered the steak frites and I ordered the moules, which is steamed mussels in a cream based sauce. If you’re looking for a nice dinner for two, PJ’s is the best place to go. Also recommend making a reservation in advance as this place fills up quick!

Part & Parcel, Biddeford, ME – this has become my new favorite place for a quick breakfast. Part & Parcel is a specialty market/cafe in downtown Biddeford that opened up not too long after Brandon and I moved here in 2018. The store is stocked with organic and local Maine products from produce to ice cream. Their selection of sandwiches are amazing! My personal favorite? Their applewood smoked bacon breakfast burrito!

Lorne Wine, Biddeford, ME – Biddeford’s newest wine shop is so cozy! Lorne is located right across from the Pepperell Mills on the Biddeford/Saco line and just recently opened its doors this past summer. Their shelves are stocked with different types of specialty wine for purchase and cute tables set up for people to sit down and enjoy a glass. The owners are also very kind and accommodating, I’ve always had a great experience coming here!

LB Kitchen (West End), Portland, ME – One of the hippest cafe’s I’ve been to in Portland. LB Kitchen originated on the East End of Portland and they just opened their West End location not too long ago. I haven’t had a chance to eat a full meal here yet BUUUUT I did get to chill here for some coffee one day. Trust me, I was drooling over the avocado toast that was being eaten by someone a couple tables down from me. What also sets this cafe apart from others is the cozy decor. I was enjoying my iced latte on the comfiest futon, it took a lot out of my husband to get me to leave! This would be a great place to come for brunch with girlfriends.

The Honey Paw, Portland, ME – I came here with my friend Laura pretty recently after a walk around downtown! The bright walls and Asian-inspired menu brought us in for a late lunch and drink at the bar. Laura had the pork and kimchi fried rice while I partook in the lobster toast, which is three small slices of deep fried bread with a lobster/scallop spread in the middle. They also have a nice list of noodle dishes (I’m eyeing the chowder ramen next time) and wine on tap! How can you not resist wine on tap?
